Leejin Kim is an art director and artist specialized in new media art and visual & cultural studies, and the ceo of CICA Press. Leejin received her BFA in Sculpture from Seoul National University in Korea, MFA in Sculpture and New Media from the University of Pennsylvania, and her PhD in Media, Art, and Text from Virginia Commonwealth University.
As an art director of CICA Museum since 2014, she has organized diverse experimental publication & international exhibition series including the CICA international exhibition & publication on New Media Art, Art Yellow Book, and Artist Statement. 1956-1957 Korea, the exhibition and publication curated by Leejin in 2014, was introduced by the press, including KBS News and Lonely Planet Magazine Korea. In 2017, Leejin formed the CICA New Media Art Conference (CICA NMAC), collaborated with Gimpo City in 2017, Anyang branch of The Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organization of Korea in 2018, and Seoul National University in 2019. In 2018, she curated and moderated the International Symposium on New Media Art & Public Art, hosted by Anyang branch of The Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organization of Korea. In 2019 and 2020, she organized and directed Art Teleported, the art show and conference for nomadic artists, held in New York. In 2020, Leejin launched CICA Kids Lab in Gimpo, Korea to promote children’s creative thinking through play-based STEAM education. In 2023, Leejin won “2023 Korea Value Management Award” hosted by the Herald Business and the Korea Herald, “2023 Inovative Korean & Power Korea Award” hosted by Sport Seoul LIFE, and “2023 Best Person of the Year.”
Leejin had taught art and interdisciplinary courses at Sangmyung University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Yonsei University, and Montgomery College and was the chairman of the Representative Innovative Industries committee in the Industry Promotion Agency of Gimpo, Korea.
김리진은 아트 디렉터이자 아티스트로 뉴 미디어 아트와 시각 문화 연구를 중심으로 프로젝트를 진행 중이다. 서울대학교에서 조소를 전공하고 미국 펜실베니아 대학원에서 뉴미디어와 조소를 공부하였다. 이후 버지니아 커먼웰스 대학에서 Media, Art, and Text 전공으로 박사를 취득하였다.
2014년부터 CICA 미술관에서 아트 디렉터로 근무하면서, CICA 뉴 미디어 아트 출판 및 국제전, 아트 옐로 북, 아티스트 스테이트먼트 등과 같은 다양한 실험 출판 및 국제전을 기획해 왔다. 그녀가 2014년 기획한 “1956-1957 한국” 사진전은 KBS 뉴스와 론리 플레닛 매거진 코리아 등을 포함한 언론에 보도되었다. 2017년부터 CICA 뉴 미디어 국제 컨퍼런스를 기획, 매해 개최, 2017년은 김포시, 2018년은 한국예총 안양지회, 2019년은 서울대학교와 협업하였다. 2018년에는 한국예총 안양지회 주최 뉴 미디어 아트와 공공미술 국제 심포지엄을 큐레이팅 및 진행하였다. 2019년과 2020년에는 노마드 아티스트를 위한 국제전 및 컨퍼런스 Art Teleported를 기획, 뉴욕에서 개최하였다. 2020년에는 어린이들의 창의력 증진을 위해 STEAM 놀이 교육 센터 CICA 키즈랩을 오픈하였다. 2023년에는 헤럴드경제, 코리아헤럴드 주최하는 “2023 대한민국 가치경영 대상”을 수상하였으며, 스포츠서울 LIFE “2023 혁신한국인 & Power Korea 대상”, 2023 올해의 베스트 인물 대상 시상식에서 ‘문화예술’ 부문을 수상했다.
상명대학교와 미국 버지니아 커먼웰스 대학, 연세대학교 언더우드 국제대학, 미국 몽고메리 대학에서 미술 전공 과목 및 연합과목들을 가르쳤으며, 김포산업진흥원 대표산업혁신 위원회 위원장으로 활동하였다.
